    The Partner Organisation

Pedagogic In-Service Training Programme (ISTP) is a joint educational partnership of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) and the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC). ISTP was founded in 1994 to improve the quality of teaching and learning of the Protestant schools in the English-speaking regions in the Northwest and Southwest of Cameroon. The team of nine employees is responsible for over 300 primary / nursery schools as well as 34 secondary schools. The main office is based in Bamenda with branches in Buea and Kumbo.

Due to the political situation in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon, many families with children have been moving to the cities of Douala and Yaoundé. As a response to this development ISTP is planning on working with teachers and students in Protestant schools in Douala and Yaoundé.

    The Project

During the last two years ISTP started with the help of a European professional to further train teachers in early childhood education and care. Thanks to implementing new methods such as parent talk and parent-teacher conferences a greater participation of parents in the education and upbringing of their children in a supportive and non-violent way has been achieved.

The aim of this project is now to create a foundation of structures at ISTP (e.g. curricula, training modules) as well as further qualification through trainings and workshops.

The job position is part of the Civil Peace Service which is a programme funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
